Severe weather and window safety

Arrange inspection of loose windows and air conditioners

If a frame, hinge, air conditioner, or external bracket is loose, noisy, or displaced, stop use and report it.

Critical safety rule

Last reviewed: 2026-09-12

A helper stays indoors away from a loose window and calls the employer to arrange inspection

Why it matters

Strong wind can detach an already loose external fixture and endanger the household, neighbours, or people below.

Wrong action

Leaning outside to pull, hammer, tie, remove, or repair a loose component yourself.

Correct action

Close off and avoid the area, warn others indoors, and ask the employer to arrange qualified inspection.

What to do

  1. Observe looseness, noise, cracks, or movement from indoors only.
  2. Stop use and keep everyone away from the window or area below.
  3. Tell the employer and management office to arrange a qualified person.

If something happens

If a component is falling or creates immediate danger, stay away from windows and the area below. Do not attempt a rescue; notify management and call 999 from safety.
