Why it matters

Nearby storage can cause leak contamination, mix-ups, or chemicals being mistaken for drinks or seasoning.

Wrong action

Correct action

Keep original labels, store upright in a separate leak-resistant cabinet, and lock it.

What to do

  1. Find all household chemicals and check their caps.
  2. Remove them from food cupboards and the fridge area.
  3. Store upright in one locked cabinet and inspect for leaks.

If something happens

For chemical contact, rinse eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes; for inhalation, swallowing, or severe symptoms, move to safety, call 999, and do not induce vomiting.
