Why it matters

Surfaces and internal parts can stay hot after switch-off. Immediate touching, washing, or storage can cause burns or damage.

Wrong action

Touching the body, basket, or heating element with bare hands immediately after cooking, or putting a hot tray into cold water.

Correct action

Use heat protection to remove food, switch off and unplug, and let the appliance cool naturally on a stable surface.

What to do

  1. Use suitable mitts or handles for hot trays and food.
  2. Switch off and unplug by holding the plug, not the cord.
  3. Wait as instructed until fully cool before cleaning and storage.

If something happens

For a hot-surface burn, cool the area under running water and do not apply toothpaste or oil. Call 999 if serious.
