Remove grease and spills safely for the appliance type
First identify whether the appliance is gas, radiant electric, induction, or another type, and follow its model manual. Turn every control off, isolate power where directed, and let all surfaces cool before cleaning.

Confirm the type, removable parts, and surface material. Do not apply gas-hob steps to induction or radiant electric models.

Extinguish every flame and set controls to off. Isolate electrical power as directed and wait for all surfaces and parts to cool.

Sweep crumbs into a container with a dry cloth or soft brush; keep them out of burner ports, igniters, and edge gaps.

Lift only pan supports, burner caps, or parts named in the manual and keep them in order. Do not touch or open internal parts.

Use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft brush. Keep burner ports clear as the manual directs and never enlarge them.

Put a little cleaner on a soft cloth and wipe the surface and around knobs. Do not flood igniters, seams, or controls.

Remove residue with a clean damp cloth. Dry the cooktop, supports, caps, and every burner port completely.

Seat each part flat in its original place. For gas smell, cracks, hose damage, deformation, or a part that will not seat, do not test; tell the employer.
