How to Clean and Descale an Electric Kettle
Follow the model method and keep strict control of heat, power, and water
Overview
Switch off, unplug, and cool the kettle completely. Never immerse its exterior or power base. Descaler type, concentration, quantity, heating, and dwell time must come from the exact model manual or approved product label; this guide gives no universal ratio.

- Two soft cloths

- Dry towel
- Exact model manual
- Model-approved descaling product if needed
- Small basin for an approved removable filter
Cleaning steps
Step 2
Read the model descaling method
Confirm the approved product, exact quantity, maximum level, heating rule, dwell time, and rinsing steps. If unclear, do routine cleaning only.
Step 3
Empty cool water and inspect
Discard cool water and inspect scale, spout filter, lid, cord, and base. Stop for leaks or damage.
Step 4
Clean exterior and approved filter
Wipe the kettle and lid with a well-wrung cloth; remove and wash only a filter approved by the manual. Keep base and contacts dry.
Step 5
Add one approved descaling solution
On a dry level surface, measure one approved solution exactly as the manual or label states. Do not exceed MAX or combine products.
Step 6
Complete the method and empty safely
Perform only the specified heating or standing step. Switch off, unplug, cool again, and empty slowly away from the contacts.
Step 7
Rinse fully and boil fresh water if directed
Rinse repeatedly. If instructed, boil a full fresh-water cycle and discard it; never drink descaling solution or first-rinse water.
Step 8
Dry, refit, and inspect
Dry the exterior and kettle bottom, refit the dry filter, and restore use only when the base, plug, and contacts are dry.
