How to Clean a Drying Rack and Clothes Pegs Safely
Inspect, clean removable parts indoors and never lean out or climb
Overview
Clean only rack parts that are safely reachable from a stable floor. For any rack outside a window or beyond a barrier, do not lean, climb, reach out or open a secured grille. Clean removable pegs indoors and leave inaccessible exterior parts untouched.

- Clean soft cloths
- Small basin kept indoors
- Soft brush
- One mild product compatible with the rack and pegs
- Drying mat
- Closed non-slip footwear
Cleaning steps
Empty and inspect the rack
Remove laundry and check bars, joints, locks, cords and pegs from a stable indoor position. Stop using any loose, corroded or damaged part.
Remove dry dust within safe reach
Keep both feet on a level floor. Use a dry cloth or soft brush on safely reachable bars and joints, collect debris inward, and leave every exterior, high or barrier-beyond section untouched.
Wash removable pegs indoors
Place removable pegs in a small basin indoors. Wash with one compatible mild product and a soft brush, then rinse as its label directs.
Wipe the reachable rack
Use a controlled damp cloth on safely reachable bars and joints. Do not flood cords, wall fittings, windows, electrical points or the floor.
Retire damaged pegs
Separate cracked, weakened or badly corroded pegs and discard them as appropriate instead of returning them to use.
Dry and reassemble
Air-dry every cleaned part fully indoors, then confirm the rack is stable and locks correctly before clean laundry touches it.
