HW034 · Everyday appliance care
With power disconnected, clean only the exterior and manual-approved removable guard or blade
A fan combines rotating and electrical hazards. Check the model manual, switch off, unplug and wait until the blade is fully stationary. Remove a guard or blade only when the manufacturer permits resident cleaning; never touch the motor, wiring or non-serviceable parts.

Read the manual and confirm whether a resident may remove the guard or blade. Stop for wall, ceiling, tool-assisted or internal work.

Wait until the blade is fully still, then unplug by the plug with dry hands and keep the cord dry.

Use a dry soft cloth or brush on the base, stand and outer guard. Do not put fingers or tools through the guard.

If permitted, remove the front guard and blade in the stated order, recording orientation and fasteners.

Use only the model-approved method. Keep the motor, switch and body free of water and dry every part completely.

Refit the blade, fasteners and guard in the correct direction, confirm secure clearance by hand, then restore power for a brief check.
