How to Clean an Air Purifier Exterior and Filter
Separate pre-filter from main filters; never wash without model permission
Overview
Air-purifier pre-filters and HEPA, carbon or other main filters can require completely different care. Switch off, unplug and read the model manual. Wipe the exterior safely, and vacuum, wash or replace each filter only as specified for that model.
Tools needed
- Model manual
- Clean microfibre cloth
- Manual-approved vacuum soft brush
- Water only for explicitly washable pre-filters
- Dry towel
Cleaning steps
Step 2
Switch off and unplug
Switch off with dry hands, unplug by the plug and wait for the internal fan to stop.
Step 3
Wipe the exterior safely
Use a dry or firmly wrung cloth. Never spray directly or let water enter any inlet or outlet.
Step 4
Remove serviceable filters
Open only the manual-designated service panel and remove specified filters without screws or internal contact.
Step 5
Treat each filter by type
Vacuum or wash a pre-filter only as directed. Replace a non-washable main filter; do not improvise washing or vacuuming.
Step 6
Dry, refit and reset
Refit only intact and fully dry permitted parts in the correct order, then reset the indicator only as instructed.
