How to Clean Wood-Look Floors Safely
Identify sealed wood, engineered wood, or laminate and use minimal moisture
Overview
Sealed solid wood, engineered wood, and laminate have different moisture limits. Manufacturer care controls; never assume steam or wet mopping is safe on an unknown floor.
Tools needed

- Manufacturer care guide
- Soft broom or hard-floor vacuum head
- Microfibre mop
- Compatible cleaner
- Dry cloth
Cleaning steps

Confirm solid wood, engineered wood, or laminate and its water limits.

Remove grit
Use a soft tool along plank direction.

Wipe spills promptly
Absorb liquid immediately, especially at seams and edges.

Pretest product
Test only a manufacturer-compatible cleaner; do not invent a mixture.

Damp-mop minimally
Wring the mop thoroughly and work small areas along the planks.

Dry immediately
Follow with a dry mop and leave no standing water.

Inspect and protect
Check seams or finish damage and maintain entry mats.
