Overview

This guide covers pack and label moving boxes by room and fragility. Work slowly, follow the item label or maker’s instructions, and stop for damage or a condition outside ordinary household care.

Tools needed

  • Sound moving boxes
  • Packing paper or dividers
  • Marker and fragile labels
  • Trolley or hand truck

Cleaning steps

Step 1

Agree what may be packed

Ask the owner which items may be packed and keep medicines, documents, valuables, cleaners and hazardous products in their approved separate plan.

Step 2

Build room-based boxes

Choose a sound box for one room and one load type; put heavy items in small boxes and cushion fragile items so they cannot touch or move.

Step 3

Label for destination and fragility

Write destination room, key contents, “fragile” where true, and orientation or owner instructions on more than one visible side; do not promise a box is safe to stack.

Step 4

Move without twisting

Close and test each box at floor level; lift close to the body with legs, avoid twisting, and use a trolley or another person when the load or route is unsafe.
