HW010 · Laundry and garment care
A safe, model-neutral sequence for one machine load
Washer cycles, detergent compartments, capacities and controls differ by model. This guide gives only a general safe sequence. The actual cycle, temperature, spin setting, detergent type and dose must follow garment labels, product labels and the manual for that washer.

Confirm there is no damage, leak or abnormal condition at the machine, plug, cord, inlet or drain. Keep hands dry. Stop and tell the employer if anything is wrong.

Sort the laundry as in HW009, read care labels and empty pockets. Do not load items if machine washing is uncertain.

Remove foreign objects, distribute clothes evenly and never pack or exceed the capacity in this model’s manual.

Use only detergent suitable for the machine and garments. Measure by the product label and place it in the location specified by the washer manual; do not double the dose or mix products.

Select the cycle, temperature and spin using garment labels and the washer manual. Never assume another brand’s or a previous load’s setting applies.

Make sure the door or lid is fully closed and no fabric is trapped before starting. Do not leave home while it runs and keep children away.

For unusual vibration, noise, smell, smoke or leaking, stop safely and switch off as the manual directs. Do not dismantle it; tell the employer to arrange a qualified technician.

Open only after the cycle has fully stopped and unlocked. Remove laundry for drying. Follow the manual for door ventilation, dispenser and filter care, and wipe floor splashes dry.
