How to Wash Duvet Covers, Fitted Sheets and Mattress Protectors
Read every label, sort, and size the load; the three bedding types are not interchangeable
Overview
Duvet covers, fitted sheets, and waterproof or functional mattress protectors can require different care. Each label controls washing, spinning, and drying.

Cleaning steps
Read each label and identify the item
Separate duvet cover, fitted sheet, and protector; note coatings, zips, elastic, and special limits.
Inspect and prepare
Close only zips directed to be closed, loosen tangles, and check damage; pretreat only as the label permits.
Sort by colour and construction
Separate colour-transfer risk, heavy pieces, and functional coatings instead of bundling all bedding together.
Use a suitable load
Leave room for the items to move. Split an oversized load and do not invent a cycle or temperature.
Wash and dry by each label
Use only the permitted method for each group; dryer, line drying, and heat are not universal.
Use or store only when fully dry
Check seams, corners, elastic, and coated areas before making the bed or folding into clean storage.
