How to Clean behind and under Movable Furniture
A practical sequence from “Assess first” to “Clean and restore”
Overview
Move only small furniture the employer confirms is safe to move. Empty loose contents, check the route and get a second person when required. Do not move large, fixed, unstable, glass or connected furniture.
Tools needed
- Long vacuum attachment
- Furniture sliders
- Household gloves
- Dry cloth
Cleaning steps
Assess first
Check weight, cables, wheels, route and number of people needed.
Empty and protect
Remove loose items and confirm the furniture can be moved safely. Use suitable sliders if needed and keep castors locked until ready to move.
Move a little
For castors, unlock only when the furniture is under control, then move a short distance. Keep your back straight without twisting; stop if too heavy. Relock and confirm stability before cleaning.
Clean and restore
Clean with long-handled tools. Return to the recorded safe position using the same controlled method, then relock castors and check stability.
