What is it?
A kitchen degreaser is sold for grease removal, but formula, concentration, surface suitability, contact time and rinsing differ by product.
How to identify it
Find kitchen degreaser, degreasing or kitchen grease-removal use on the original label, together with warnings, surfaces and rinsing directions. Bottle colour and trigger shape are not identity tests.
- Original label states kitchen grease removal
- Label gives surfaces and method
- Disinfection requires a separate explicit label claim
Common confusion
A kitchen degreaser is labelled for grease removal. Cream cleanser is another category; neither formula nor surface suitability transfers between them.
Common Hong Kong household uses
Remove grease only from kitchen hard surfaces permitted by the label. Treat or rinse food-contact surfaces exactly as directed.
Preparation or handling
Remove or protect food and packaging, provide label-required ventilation and protection, and use one cleaner at a time.
Storage
Keep closed in the labelled original container, separated from food and food packaging and out of children's reach.
Helper tip
Degreasing is not disinfection. Do not extend contact time or mix with bleach or another cleaner.
What Ma’am or Sir may say
用除油劑後,食物接觸面要跟標籤沖洗。The employer wants product residue removed as the label directs before food touches the surface again.
