Slip and fall prevention
Dry wet floors immediately
Clean up spills at once and dry the floor to prevent slips.
Why it matters
Even a small amount of water, oil, or cleaning liquid can make a floor very slippery, especially for children, older people, and anyone moving quickly.
Wrong action
Leaving a spill in a walkway and relying only on a loose cloth or warning sign.
Correct action
Clean the liquid immediately, dry the whole affected area, and keep people away until it is fully dry.
What to do
- Ask people nearby to use another route for the moment.
- Absorb and remove all liquid with a cloth or mop.
- Check the surrounding floor and shoe soles for any remaining slippery area.
If something happens
If someone is seriously injured, unconscious, or in immediate danger after a fall, call 999.
