Common mistakes

  1. The minced pork is spread too thick, so the center is hard to cook through.
  2. The tofu is cut too small and breaks apart easily after steaming.
  3. The seasoning is too salty because tofu absorbs flavour easily.
  4. Steaming too long makes the tofu release too much water.
  5. Putting the dish in before the water boils makes the timing inaccurate.
  6. Not checking the pork may leave the center undercooked.

Tips

Steamed Tofu with Minced Pork looks simple, but the most important points are not spreading the pork too thick and making sure the water is boiling before steaming. When cooking it for your employer's family for the first time, make the flavour lighter and do not add too much soy sauce or oyster sauce. Before serving, always check that the pork is fully cooked, especially in the thicker center area.
