What is it?
Dishwashing liquid is a detergent intended for washing dishes by hand. Formula, concentration and dose vary, so the complete original label is authoritative.
How to identify it
Accept only an original container clearly labelled for hand dishwashing, dishwashing liquid or an equivalent use. Do not infer identity from clear or green liquid, thickness or foam.
- Original label states hand-dishwashing use
- Label provides dose, warnings and rinsing directions
- Container is intact, closed and not leaking
Common confusion
Hand dishwashing liquid is not dishwasher-machine detergent; machine suitability must be stated on the original label.
Common Hong Kong household uses
Hand-wash dishes, utensils and permitted kitchenware exactly as directed on the label.
Preparation or handling
Read the complete original label first. If an SDS is supplied or available from the supplier or manufacturer, consult it as supplementary safety information. Follow only the labelled hand-washing dose, rinsing and protection directions, ventilate, and never mix cleaners.
Storage
Keep closed and upright in its original labelled container, away from food, heat, children and pets. Never transfer it to a food or drink container.
Helper tip
Do not use it when the original label, ingredients or safety directions are missing or unreadable. Never invent a dilution, mixture or substitute use.
What Ma’am or Sir may say
用之前先睇原裝標籤;如果有附上或者搵到安全資料表,亦要睇埋。開窗,唔好同任何清潔劑溝埋。The employer makes the original label primary; an SDS is also checked when supplied or otherwise available. Ventilation is provided and cleaners are never mixed.
Useful market phrase
