What is it?
Laundry detergent powder is a dry laundry-cleaning product. Formula, washer suitability, wash method and dose all come from the original label.
How to identify it
Accept only intact original packaging clearly labelled laundry powder or powder laundry detergent. Do not guess from white granules, fragrance or appearance.
- Label states powder laundry use
- Label gives machine or hand-wash suitability and dose
- Package is closed, dry and undamaged
Common confusion
Laundry powder is dry powder; liquid laundry detergent is liquid. Formula, dose and machine suitability remain label-led for both.
Common Hong Kong household uses
Wash permitted fabrics using the labelled laundry programme and dose.
Preparation or handling
Read the complete original label first. If an SDS is supplied or available from the supplier or manufacturer, consult it as supplementary safety information. Follow only the labelled fabric, wash method, dose and protection directions, avoid raising dust, and never improvise mixtures.
Storage
Keep closed and upright in its original labelled container, away from food, heat, children and pets. Never transfer it to a food or drink container.
Helper tip
Do not use it when the original label, ingredients or safety directions are missing or unreadable. Never invent a dilution, mixture or substitute use.
What Ma’am or Sir may say
用之前先睇原裝標籤;如果有附上或者搵到安全資料表,亦要睇埋。開窗,唔好同任何清潔劑溝埋。The employer makes the original label primary; an SDS is also checked when supplied or otherwise available. Dust is avoided and products are never mixed without exact label directions.
